Rep. Rob Bishop has introduced legislation in congress to force the U.S. Forest Service to sell land in the Wasatch Range. The land will most likely be used for the Canyons-Solitude Interconnect (www.skilink.com (http://www.skilink.com/)). Whether you agree with the Interconnect is irrelevant. The issue is that such a bill would set a precedent whereby legislators would introduce legislation in order to get around agencies land use policies by forcing them to sell the land at issue.

If a state senator supported the logging of a forest the senator could simply legislatively force the Forest Service to sell the land. Is there oil on that BLM land; good cattle land in that BLM owned canyon? The solution to all these problems is to force the agency to sell the land! Perfect way to get around environmental laws, and keep us outdoor men and women off the land!

This threat to our public lands cannot be allowed to go unchallenged.
