It was great to see so many old friends and to make some new ones at the North Wash Frost Fest. Sierra and I had a great time.
I'm creating this thread in the hopes that everyone will add some of there favorite pictures and video from the weekend.
I'll add my stuff when I get it all downloaded but to start things off here is a picture of the group that did Goblin's Liar on Sunday. Thanks to Scott P for showing us this amazing quirk of nature.

A gentleman from Great Briton puts out the word and canyoneers from Utah, Colorado, California and probably a couple other place show up.... that's pretty cool.
Thanks to Rob for revitalizing this weekend and getting me out of the house. :2thumbs:

Frost Fest - Not a bad name... surprisingly cold Friday. Pretty nice Saturday. Rained on us Sunday as we left.
There were a few canyons on the agenda, but mostly, this was to be a social trip with lots of folks new to the canyons, and a chance to celebrate Tom’s birthday. Something like 15 folks I hadn't met, and probably 20 or more of the “regulars.” 28 people did canyons in the Hog complex on Saturday alone, with a few more in Morocco, and a handful in Poison Springs. Pretty good crowd!
As always, lots of fun, but way more water then anticipated. 5 of us did a middle leprechaun on Friday, and 10 in Boss Hawg on Saturday, with 5 first timers to north wash. Checked out some of the non-tech sites on the way back Sunday. I only took a camera through Hog 1 – enjoy.

:cry1: Oh, I wish I coulda been there...
Great pics, Dan - Boss Hog looks excellent. I did that as my third technical canyon, back in 2007, and I remember almost none of it. Took 2 photos, and was just so overwhelmed (in a good way) by the thing.
Shane - funny how much that Liar looks like a Lair... ;)
Looking forward to many more reports!!!

I'll post some photos tomorrow, but I didn't get any very good ones in the Chamber of the Basilisk. It's a neat place, but is super hard to photograph. Hopefully others in the group got better photos.
I got some good photos of Blarney and the approaches to the Arscenic (but not too many in Arscenic itself).
Anyway, I came down with my seven year old daughter, Shaylee, nine year old son Kessler and my wife Kimberly. Plus my coworker Justin.
We did Blarney Friday; Arsenic with Shane, his daughter Sierra and Tim on Saturday and the Chamber of the Basilisk with a big group Sunday. The weather was pretty good and the only time some precip fell was on the drive.

Here is a few shots from Hogwarts. Only a mandatory calf height wade if your willing to do a little stemming. For some reason an unnamed individual seemed to get a bit more wet than required.
A kept man. Face is hidden to protect the innocent. I wasn't going in unless it was a last resort, stemmed over and sat on the packs for his escape. Two packs did not generate enough friction as you neared the top but I bet two packs and a partner boost would do the trick. That said, nobody else in my party wanted to go in.
49432
The only narrow part. We all went under and didn't think to look at how possible it was to go over.
49433
The next little bit of water is an easy stem and it is also very deceiving. If you blow it the section closest to the squeeze is over your head.
49434
And yes, this is how I know how deep it is. Somehow the unnamed individual buggered the EASY stem and fell in. Caught climbing out.
49435
The awesome last anchor. Better bring a full 70m rope or shorter with a pull cord.
49438
Almost to the road so the unnamed individual can warm up.
49439
Warming up back at camp.
49436
With not so hot weather Sunday morning we packed, were searched by the BLM cops. Something about an altercation with an RV that had occurred the previous night. Finally hit the road and pulled off just short of the Goblin Valley exit to recon a future weekend adventure.

The only thing that the BLM cops (not rangers, they were armed with Glocks and tasers) told us was there was some sort of altercation with an RV pulling into a camping area. They kept asking if we saw any RV's, who was around, did we know anybody...etc. They did not go into specifics. We were getting interrogated. The BLM cops asked the same questions multiple times in a slightly different phrases, bad cop searching vehicles, good cop talking about canyoneering and climbing, asking followup questions to determine if we really did do canyons and climb up stuff. After finishing with us they moved on to another group further down towards the entrance of Sandthrax then headed back toward Hanksville. So to answer the question, no idea of what happened or what the BLM cops were looking for.

I had a great time in southern Utah this year; my 16th visit but only the second involving canyoneering.
I must first offer my thanks and appreciation (in no particular order) to Scott P, Kimberley & family; Carpeybiggs, Deanpaul, Evergreen Dean, mfshop, bladerider (& Natalie) and Evan (not of this parish), Steve, and everyone else (whom I will have offended by not mentioning by name) for making this trip very memorable for me and putting up with my inadequacies.
You folks who live within cobra-spitting distance of southern Utah are very privileged. It is a very special place.
I managed to break my duck and do a couple of canyons solo (Angel Slot & Morocco) so my confidence level has increased a little. I also did a bit of hiking in those days between canyoneering.
Here's a few photos (and a video of Hog1). My photos & video of the grotto in Goblin Valley came out all blurred, so none of these came out.
All the best, Bogleyites, and hopefully see you soon.
