Finally! A chance to see the infamous Wave. As you all know, not an easy ticket to score. And.....What a gorgeous fall day! Nary a cloud in the sky. Our permit was for 5. My wife and I, ready to complete the Sandhills Trilogy.(I made that up. Sounds good though!) We had already been to the South Coyote Buttes and White Pocket, each of the last 2 springs, but always denied that ever elusive North Coyote permit (3rd one... Trilogy...). An online fiasco for Oct, had BLM issuing 3X to many permits. Let's just say, there were some mighty disappointed people, when they told 20 of the thirty people that their permits were a mistake. I was one of them. Grrr! Sad ending? Nope. And that is why everyone in the group should apply. We got em!
On with the day. A very comfortable morning, in a t shirt and shorts at the 1st hill, before Wire Pass. We decide to just blow in there, and hold off on the camera shots till we get there.
We hit Wave I, Wave II, Sand Cove, lower boneyard and the Sand wash out. A glorious day of sun and colorful landscapes. So here we go.

where is this located?
You could just Google "The Wave". But I'll let you in on the location. It is accessed on a dirt road, halfway between Page AZ and Kanab UT, 8 miles down House Rock Valley Rd. to the trailhead. There is one tiny problem about hiking to it. You need a permit from the BLM at Paria GS or maybe now in Kanab the day before, or online 4 months before you hike it. Not real easy to get. 20 total permits per day. Good luck.
Thanks for the comments guys. It really was a beautiful day. I think if I score another trip there, its up and over the notch.
