Mollies Nipple hike - Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument - West (GSENM)

Intro:

After two years of abstinence in the western part ofGrand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, we decided several days to hikein remote areas of this wonderful world of sandstone. We rented a 4WD of CanyonCountry Adventures in Page, AZ. These Grand Cherokee take us safely to the trailheadsat Mollies Nipple and later along the Skutumpah Road.

The Land Before Time, far far away.
Mollie was an beautiful fem. creature. After she's gone. The time, wind and weather formed of her body an beautiful landscape with the Nipple as landmarker. ;-)

Mollies Nipple is two miles south of Nipple Lake and the head of Kitchen Canyon.
John G. Kitchen was an early settler, who owned a ranch near the mouth of Kitchen Canyon.
According to early cowhands, this geological feature was named as a compliment to John G. Kitchen's bride, Molly.

There are a total of 7 scattered throughout Utah. I'm most familiar with the one up Diamond Fork.

In my source are (from 1990) only 4 descriptions of Utah's 'Nipples'. They are located in Beaver, Kane, Utah and Uintah County.
