MOAB -- A gay pride march in conservative southern Utah is so unlikely that the idea actually started as a joke.
But Amy Stocks says she remembers how isolated she felt as a lesbian teen in Moab in the mid-1990s and figured it was about time.
Stocks got positive feedback when she posted a satirical video on Facebook showing a small town throwing a pride festival for its only gay resident.
The encouragement led Stocks to coordinate Moab's first gay pride march.
The co-founder of Saturday's event says the goal is to reach youth in the community who feel they have nowhere to turn.
Organizers say they hope other small towns follow suit.
