This trail used to be a 4x4 road, but those days are gone so there is now a sturdy metal gate blocking the road from Jeeps.

I used to enjoy the days when you could hunt up BCC and drive Minerial Basin and Cardiff Fork in a jeep. I used to deer hunt up there every night after school and took some nice deer out of those canyons. Here is a 4 point and 2 point I took out of Mineral Basin.

Aaahhhh.... the good ol' days...

I'm not much of a huntsman, but I'll admit I'm jealous! Sounds like a lot of fun - unfortunately I'm far too young for the good old days.

It is sad that offroaders and hikers have such a hard time sharing the wild places sometimes. A lot of places in Colorado have had the same thing happen to them. One of the big problems there is that some of the great old Jeep roads are now used to access 14ers.
