popcrunch.com - Prison break movies are always fun to watch, whether the escapes are made by Allied POWs or just common criminals. It appeals to the subversive side of human nature to see a convict stick it to the system and run free, especially one who the audience knows doesn

holes was a great book but a lacking movie...

Holes was actually one of the few times where I preferred the movie to the book. The only things I preferred about the book was Stanley losing all the weight, and having the Zeroni side of the song.

I love The Great Escape. I like this list. The only one I haven't seen is The Count of Monte Cristo. Pappion was one long movie but I still liked it too. I had totally forgotten about Escape to Victory with Stalone and Pele. Good movie though. :2thumbs:

I love a good prison movie. One not on that list, but I thought enthralling, was "The Prophet."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1235166/

It is definitely a rated "R" movie. Not for the squeamish.

WTF?!? No Cool Hand Luke????

Without Cool Hand Luke this list is nothing but male bovine excretment.

What we got here is... failure to communicate.

Epic FAIL! How anyone could make a list like this and not have Cool Hand Luke at the top is so disturbing.

I'll add, "The Bridge On the River Kwai". One of my all-time favorite movies. Though maybe not a prison-break movie per se, William Holden's character escapes the Japanese labor camp. Best Picture Oscar (among a host of other awards) in 1958.

...also, I watched a Biography episode on Steve McQueen not long ago. Did you know he did his own motorcycle stunts in The Great Escape? They had a stuntman on set, but he couldn't do the required ride well enough. McQueen, an avid moto guy, stepped up to the plate and did it himself. I watched the film afterwards and you can tell its him. Dude was a stud!

Yup... Steve McQueen was a pretty good racer. Find a copy of the movie "On Any Sunday" and watch it. That movie totally changed my life. The minute I found out you could make a living racing motorcycles all other carrer choices were doomed. McQueen was also a descent race car driver. The movie studio probably would of shit if they had of known what McQueen was doing on his day off, he often raced under an alisis to hide from the studios and movie fans, but the racers all knew who he was.

Here is some actual race footage of McQueen from the 1970 Elsinore GP

I believe he also did most of the driving in "Bullett". There is one scene where he takes a corner a little wide and takes out the camera.

FWIW: McQueen did many of his own motorcycle and car stunts, but in movie "The Great Escape" the jump was made by anther racer, Bud Elkins .

PSS - Steve McQueen's 1970 Porsche 911S sold for $1.25M last weekend. Anything McQueen is hot right now.
