This was a big climb. An hour of approach put us at the bullet proof snow. I
wish I had steel crampons, rather than my dull, soft aluminum ones. Once on the
arete, one has 400 vertical feet or so of class 4 to the rope up spot. Just
wonderful to amble on up! Then you got 15 pitches after that. Much steep and
wonderful climbing early. Then it becomes more of a lower angled ridge, with ups
and downs, steep notches and more tremendous exposure. We ran up to the summit
after the roped pitches ended. Summits are important. The most satisfying climb
on the trip, till that time. We had another pair of folks, a few pitches behind
us and the cheap telephoto was able to capture some more of the mood, mixed in
with the picts of us.

We made it back to camp and the bugs. The next AM, we packed up and headed down
the hill, clicking away at flowers as we went. Ryan, the Crane and Stevee B.
hooked back in the next day, for more Yosemite action in the next album after
this one.
