Was going to do the Fishhook Arete on Russell. I was struggling on what we were
doing and this was several steps up....Waaaa, waaaa. It didn't look like it
offered easy escapes. Waaaaa, waaa. With the need for ice ax and crampons, boots
etc., before ropes and rack, the packs were very heavy and to do pitches of 5.9?
Waaaa, double waaaaa. Aaron wanted to....badly. I bailed. Maybe if it had been
later in the trip, I would have....waaaaa, waaaa.

So with the East Arete still of interest....supposed to be the worlds my exposed
and scary Class 3 (It was), we rallied to easier fare. It still scared me in one
spot and I happily wore my rock shoes on class 3, for the first time. Or was
that class 4? Waaa, waaaa.

We climb up to the plateau separately, meet up there and look down the ridge in
the opposite direction. A Mountain called Carillon. Nice climbing if you stay on
the ridge. Still up for a peak bag. Rick Kent and Daria names in the register.
On to Russell. Tricky to the summit, but a great place to nap. The talus gully
down was a pain.....and painful. Down to camp and pack up and down the rest of
the hill. Five days in, 5 peaks, tad short of 17,000 feet of ascent. Off to a
good start.

The trick is....have children. Train them up......make them love it....have them take you when you get old....and pretend it was a good idea when they go off and do super hard stuff.

Haha, that would be pretty handy... but that would involve having children :wallbash: :lol8:
