Hi,

In Mai 2011 I planned to travel in the Northwest, mainly Washington and Oregon. However, the weather was worse than usual (at least my impression:cry1:) and I had to skip several plans and finally drove further south to find better weather.

Nevertheless, during a sunny period of a few days I took the chance to hike to Shi Shi Beach in Olympic National Park. Although the temperatures were close to freezing I spent two nights camping near Point of the Arches. I enjoyed one nice sunrise and two beautiful sunsets and I took lots of pictures of Point of the Arches and the northern part of Shi Shi Beach

I published a report on this trip to Point of the Arches (http://rainer-grosskopf.de/travelogues/blog/point-of-the-arches-en.html) on my homepage. This beach is so gorgeous and a must see for photographers.

The hike from the trailhead to the beach is not very strenuous and one-way just about 4-5 miles. To make the best out of your trip, you should consider the weather and the tides calendar. The best time for photographers at Point of the Arches is probably a low tide at sunset.

I will come back!
