Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? I think it is o.k. to let people know there is a bear in the area, but closing an entire area????
Somehow personal responsibility comes into play, so, my question, maybe someone can make it a poll.:
1) Notify People that there is a known sighting of a bear in the area they are camping and let them decide on what they want to do?
2) Remove every person from a large area because a bear has been sighted..

This is because of the attack in AF canyon a few years ago. They don't want to get sued again so they go the most extreme route so if someone does get hurt they can't be found liable.

No option 3?
3) FS gives all campers a loaded gun

What he said... If that young boy wasn't killed a couple of years back they would just have warnings up and call it good. We have plenty of places to camp around here, I personally would choose another site to camp if there were posted warnings. I can't put my life on the line if my fellow neighbor camper doesn't take heed and lures a bear into camp by not following protocol.
