We have been planning this trip for a year or so and finally pulled off the fishing trip to the Great Alaskan Outdoors. We spent a couple days in Ketchikan and then headed to Craig to fish. The lodge was fantastic even though the weather didn't cooperate fully the fishing was still not too bad. We ended up bringing home about 65# of fish and fully intend on returning to avenge the weather gods. Unfortunately down south were we were there is a 37" limit on the halibut but they were still pretty nice.

The smoked salmon chowder in Ketchikan was nice. Of the two places we had it we thought AnnaBelles was a little better (they had Sierra Nevada Pale Ale :pitcher: on tap) than the Alaskan Fish House chowder but both were fabulous. We did go flight seeing in the Misty Fjords and that was cool, it was our first time in a float plane. It sure was quieter when all the cruise ships had pulled out for the day (4-5). I guess that is what gets all those people through the winter.
