I had to show off my new helmet paint job because I've never done a helmet like this, and it was easier than I thought.

I have wanted to buy a full face helmet for a while, but the cheap mtn bike downhill helmets (~$100) feel like plastic and foam that would crumble the first time I kissed a tree. The nice ones are $300+. I used to have a motorcycle back in the day, and you can get a motorcycle helmet that is much better quality than most of these mtn bike helmets for a fraction of the cost. Only down side is less venting - well no venting really. I'm not sure I'd want to use it if I had to climb for longer than 5-10 minutes.

So I bought a 2010 clearance helmet (60% off) that was a decent helmet, but ugly. Decided to strip it down, repaint it to match my bike. It took a long time (drying time between different colors, taping off design, and clear coat), but I like the results. The first pic of the red/white helmet is the before.

That is nice, what did you use to strip the original paint and what's the new paint?

I didn't strip the paint. I just went over the whole thing with 220 grit sandpaper to rough up the surface, then cleaned it really well to get all the dust off.

I used rattle can Rustoleum for the paint (3 coats of white, 3 coats black, 3 coats of matte finish clear coat). I painted an old bike I restored with Krylon about 3 years ago and the paint has held up well, even after a couple crashes. So if you really want a more durable finish, I'd recommend Krylon. I can't vouch for this Rustoleum yet. But it's a helmet - it's supposed to get scratched, right?
