I have lost track of the number of times that I have been to the White roost. It is one our favorites. What is the best bug repellant? A good strong wind. There were reports of the worst No See Um, Green Fly, Deer Fly and Horsefly season in years in the Roost area. With gusts up to 40 MPH we had no problems with bugs. Never saw a No see um the whole time. The wind at night rearranged the camp a tad though. Very fine sand found its way into every crack, sleep bag crease, wrinkle and hole. Our camp became a sand dune catchment. Even the scorpions had trouble with the wind. One had enough of it. Emily brought it home in her pillow as a matter of fact.
