Hi all -

I'm visiting the Salt Lake City area from Jul1-4 and an in dire need of finding some good recommendations on paddling options while I'm in that area. Willing to drive up to 5 hours for the right spot. I typically paddle rivers like the Ocoee back east and am comfortable in up to class IV rapids.

I'm simply trying to find either a good group I may sync with any of those days and/or recommendations on spots where I might be able to rent/demo a good boat. If I can get something locked down, I will likely bring my own gear, just need a boat.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!

are you looking for a day trip or more?

You might check out mountainbuzz.com and ask there as well.

Hmm. The Weber might be good, but might be high. Same with the Provo. Heck, I'd say the Green is close enough if you're willing to drive. It's just a wierd year for water here in Utah.

The Sevier through Big Rock Candy Mountain is popular...

Or you can give the good peeps on bogley a chance too. :cool2:

What kind of boat are you looking to rent? The Ogden River is absolutely roaring right now for kayakers.

Or the Weber River is pretty good right now for a smaller raft or inflatable canoe. Start from Henefer and get out at Taggart:

Or if you want to try out some good river surfing, go check out the Riverdale Wave:

These are just places up near Ogden, @30 minutes north up the freeway from Salt Lake.

@Alex (http://www.bogley.com/forum/member.php?u=139) is a good source of local river running info too.

I typically paddle a Pyranha Everest or Burn, so ideally I'd love to be able to demo/rent something of that sort. Just looking for a day-trip most likely... fun class III would be my preference on a new river...

Will be in SLC Fri-Sun. Are you paddling anywhere this weekend?
