Took the Scouts out to the Sprial Jetty last weekend (20-21 April). Couldn't have picked a better time to go. The weather was mostly clear. It cooled down a bit at night, but was never cold enough to zip up the sleeping bag.
Mosquitoes were a problem for about 30 minutes... a slight breeze took care of them. I still got 40 bites on my arms, head (shaved) and neck, despite using 40% DEET. I always seem to attract the mosquitoes from everyone else.
Midges were pesky for about an hour in the morning. Another breeze came and took them away. Saturday was sunny and warm, giving us time to explore Rozel Point, do some geocaching and visit the Golden Spike.
The road out has been regraded recently and had new road bed laid down. It is now accessible for even small cars without fear of losing an oil pan.
Definitely a recommended trip before the bugs get real bad.
Took a few pictures of the beautiful sunset. Was going to be the last for Utah if you believed the crazy radio preacher.
Took the boys by the ATK rocket garden on the way home. Always a fun place to visit.
