Anyone been there recently with all the weather and runoff?

I was there the first half of the month. The Escalante was running high but not to flood stage. Calf creek, and Willis creek were also high but not as dramatic. We drove through the Bryce Canyon area and all of the rivers and creeks were flooded out.

I just got back from a backpacking trip down Fortymile Gulch and Willow Gulch over the weekend. Water was crystal clear and not higher than average down that way. Deepest unavoidable pool in Fortymile was chest deep, deepest unavoidable in Willow was just a little less than that.

Oh, and watch out for cows.

The Paria was running slightly deeper than normal, but the slots seemed to be drier than the last time I was down there. Looks like ibenick found deeper water down there than we did. Nick, was that cow dead? :eek2:

Yes, that is a very dead cow. The thing was so full of gas that I'm pretty sure a hard poke with a fork would have caused it to explode. Good reminder to use a water filter as this was just a few miles upstream from where we pumped later that night.
