Wasn't sure where to put this; paddling, boating, hiking? Took a trip down to Powell a couple of weeks ago. I suppose a slot canyon was our destination. Sailed the Hobie TI up the channel from Bullfrog.

The water was freezing. Nobody out there but a few fishermen. Made it as far as Smith Fork before we were hypothermic. We thawed out and made the jaunt up the slot. Delightful non-technical canyon.

Had a little accident on the return trip. Gusty winds in the canyon picked up the boat and put us head first into a wall at top speed. Did some damage, but luckily we were able to limp back to the marina.

The bow was smashed in, but luckily wasn't leaking. The outrigger braces both broke. One of the braces sank into the depths. We lashed one of the paddles in its place. Could have been a lot worse. No more letting the sail out in tight canyons for sure.
