I'm planning a trip into the Wind Rivers. I've got 5 nights (so 6 days of hiking). My current plan is to hike the Wind Rivers Crest Trail, which starts at Green River and ends at Big Sandy.
I've hiked portions of this trail, but never the entire thing. Anybody have experience with the trail? Do I risk biting off more than I can chew?
By way of background, I'm quite fit, and I pack very light.

Hiked from Sweetwater to Green River lakes but not on the exact Crest Trail...took 13 days. There is much more if you get off the main Crest Trail. I have a old post on it, click 'my trip reports' under my avatar. Also check out Backpacker.com website, a lot of info there on the Winds. Personally I would finish at GR TH, its a long haul up from there.

Thanks................. Going back Late August. Have a a small warmup hike, 67 miles, Teton Skyline from Teton Pass to Grassy Lk. Then going to finish the North part of the Winds from GR TH up and cross by Yukon Pk, down to the Dinwoody, up Blaurock Pass, Alpine to Camp Lk where we turned around then out to Elkhart via Cook Pass. Got a new camera so will have lots of pics to post.......

Agree. I hear the hike up out of the green river lakes is killer.
