PROVO -- Rescuers had to call out high-angle rescue teams to lower two rock climbers stranded on a 350-foot cliff to the ground in Provo's Rock Canyon Wednesday evening.

Provo police say 23-year-old Dan Walsh of Salt Lake City and 22-year-old Sean Burton of Draper were rappelling near the mouth of the canyon in an area known as Bad Bananas around 5:40 p.m. when they got stuck 15 feet away from the cliff face, unable to move up or down.

Police say the two were on opposite ends of one rope using a single anchor point.

The rescuers set up systems above each victim to stabilize them and lower them to safety.

The climbers had scrapes to their arms and hands but were not seriously injured.
