My oldest son served his mission in Mexico and said Cinco De Mayo wasn't that big a deal down there. Maybe it's an Americanized holiday to make us feel better about our neighbors to the south.

apparently it's more of a regional holiday in mexico in the state of puebla where the battle was fought.

where was you son?
