April 2011 Trip Report Contest - Win $50

Ready? Here's the skinny. :popcorn:

Each month we'll be switching up the contest type for Trip Reports. This month will be taking place on the Bogley facebook fanpage here:

The goal is to achieve the most comments on the Trip Report link you post on the fanpage. Here's a quick youtube video explaining the details:

Our definition of a Trip Report is the same as last month:


Be started within the current contest month. (does not need to have "happened" this month)

Have the Trip Report prefix (http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?39103-Thread-Prefixes-Posting-and-Filtering).
Contain at least 1 paragraph description - @4 lines.
Contain at least 5 photos and/or a video. Slideshows are included.
The full report must be posted on Bogley and not link out to another site

Any other optional features like an embedded Google Map (http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?39098-Embed-Google-Maps-in-a-bogley-post) may build value to your Trip Report and help your ranking. An "Album" in the Dark Room that meets these requirements will also be eligible.

You may comment on your own link, but only the first instance will be counted towards your score.

"Liking" the link will not be counted in this contest.

Before anybody comments on your Trip Report link from the fanpage, they must Like the page itself.

The prize this month will be a $50 Amazon Gift Certificate, along with a Bogley shirt and window sticker.

Contest closes Saturday April 30th at Midnight.

Btw, what if people wanted to donate gear or money to these contests?

For example, I have brand new carabiners and a 2L Camelbak reservoir (not the backpack, mind you), and brand new entriers I would be glad to donate - since I have more than I'll ever need. And donating to people who would ACTUALLY use it and motivating people to post TRs, is a crafty, but great idea. Heck, I'll even pitch in a $20 gift card to Walmart/Target or the Chilis or something...

How about a separate contest? We could do a vote on the top 10 TR's posted during a given month. Then award a Bogley t-shirt and sticker or the other loot that your offering. Would you be willing to run it?

If you Like it from Bogley, I think it will just pick the first image it sees. It excludes animated gifs, slideshows, and videos.

If you post the Trip Report link directly to facebook, that's where you can choose the thumbnail more easily.

Yep, paste your trip report link into the Bogley Facebook wall and then you'll be able to select an image. Beech's video does show this process. :mrgreen:

That's fine, as long as the first post of the report starts this month, it can continue indefinitely but it will only be qualified for the month it started in. Good question though.

I thought it was based on the time zone on this sites time stamps and made certain I rallied for comments before midnight (3am my time). Not sure if that's actually the case but I hope it's right! Momma needs a new backpack! :mrgreen:

Yeah, lesson learned, this isn't just a Utah based site so I should have put the correct time zone.

Here's how I see it, Penelope is 3 hours ahead so technically she could have kept tallying comments until 3am

but...

I'm still seeing that wasatchghost still had more comments by the deadline, whether it was 12am MST or 3am EST. Facebook will put the timestamp on it for which ever timezone it was posted.

Here's what I've got, Penelope had 5 comments by 3am EST or midnight MST, wasatchghost had 7 comments by the same time.

The official winner is wasatchghost but hey Penelope, check your Private Messages, we might be able to do something for you. :cool2:
