What exactly do u mean by you have permits? From what I've gathered, a simple Navajo hiking permit won't work. It is officially closed to hiking privately and I was told you must go with a guide. When I tried to go a couple years ago, the folks at Upper Antelope showed me the places I was "allowed" to go. I told them I wanted to hit Upper waterholes, and she pretty much just said.....go at your own risk. Last I heard, the Hummer tours will call the authorities if they find anyone in there......

Yes, from what we have heard, there are different stories out there of whether or not you can hike on that land with the navajo permits. It seems that some are told it is fine, and others - what you have heard. We are going to talk to the LeChee chapter when we get out there to confirm information before we head out (this is where our permits came from and there are no restrictions on our permits that we are aware of).
