I think you should get a rain check to come back any other day so you could put off buying your next one by one day.

I've been on the free days before to both Zion and Arches and never noticed a numbers differance from any other day.... YMMV....

I have to agree. I've been twice on free days to Zion and it seemed like any other day in the park...IE, tourists everywhere, campsites always full, etc.

We did Arches on the last November free day and the place deserted. Parking available at Delicate Arch and Devils Garden all day long... no problem picking up Fiery Furnace permits at 10 am on Saturday.
