The link: http://blog.mysanantonio.com/education/2011/03/scholarship-for-white-men/

The article: "Colby Bohannan, a student at Texas State University in San Marcos, has set up a scholarship fund for white men, according to the Austin American-Statesman (http://www.statesman.com/news/local/texas-state-students-offer-scholarships-exclusively-for-white-1279749.html).
Bohannan told the Statesman he found an abundance of scholarships for minorities and women, but scant resources for the Caucasian male.
His fund, a nonprofit called the Former Majority Association for Equality, is offering five $500 scholarships exclusively to white male students.

Because in the past blacks, women and other minorities have not been given all the opportunities that white men have. Minority family often did not have wealth to pass on to their kids. This sort of stepping stone is what gets many out of ghetto types of environments. While the past is not fair, I don't find it fair either that we have to do the opposite now. I do think things needed to get a little more even but now its gone too far.

In this age - All things should be equal for ALL people.

Yup, my feeling is, "Just because your great-great-great grandaddy was a slave to someone else does NOT mean I OWE YOU JACKSH**."

You cannot right the wrongs of the past by doing 'a wrong' the other way in the present. More simply, YOU CANNOT RIGHT THE WRONGS OF THE PAST. You can only work to stop it happening NOW. And leaning the other way doesn't do that.

I'm ready for a 'color-blind' society... but I won't hold my breath.:soapbox:

Wow I dont think it was ever meant to make up for past wrongs, but to help people better their lives. I know there were much argument about having to right past wrongs by money, but as far as I know, nothing ever came of it. Maybe what is going on is that now is telling us that we do not need any help based on race. Bohannan in his writing uses the fact that now white men are actually the minority. Now that we are seeing parody more and more, perhaps we should look at taking away practices that were set up to level the playing field based on race. I think Charles Barkley is right when he says, in this day in age it is more about money than it is about race.

While the quote is funny you do know that it is no longer believed that it was strictly a slave built enterprise and that archeologists are finding in the ruins of the city's built around the pyramids that the people ate very well, had full family lives and that the number of slaves involved in building was far far less than previously assumed :)
