I admit that I do enjoy Sunday mornings. One reason is because it's the day that I get to make breakfast in bed for my wife Kimberly.

I'm no gormet chef, so it's nothing fancy, but here's this morning's masterpiece:

Actually, I used something similar (different brand). Believe it or not, it's harder than it looks. Even with cooking spray, the eggs like to stick in the mold and are hard to turn. The above photo I poasted was try #3 (I ate the first two messed up ones myself). I think got it all figured out though.

Bummer. I'm out of town this week, so I didn't get to make breakfast in bed for my wonderful wife this morning.

On the plus side, when I leave town she leaves a love letter in my suitcase. I hang them on my wall at work, but pretty soon I'm going to need a bigger office since my office wall is almost full.

Wonderful Kimberly's latest "breakfast in bed". I looooooooove my wife. :)

Haha cool idea for a thread. I make breakfast in bed for my wife too. I'll take a pic next time. But I can probably describe what ideas I do and feel free to steal them. :haha:

So make a perfectly round pancake but attach two smaller pancakes above it. It makes a mouse ears like a silhouette of mickey mouse. Then use blueberries for the eyes and then cut up an apple for the smiley face. You can get really creative with the nose, I also carve this out of an apple piece. Once you understand the concept you can make all kinds of funny faces using different shapes of pancakes. For instance you can make a long face screaming, pointy ears on a happy cat, etc, etc.

Not as romantic as hearts, granted.. But if your looking to change it up this would work I think. :)

Since you LOOOOOOOOVE your wife and I am tired of working on divorce cases today, let me offer my little suggestions on wooing your wife. First, a comment about James Bond. Women seem to love him for a couple of reasons, one of which is his style and panache. He is comfortable in a tux and comfortable beating the stuffing out of someone while in a tux. He knows and is comfortable with the finer things of life. Now, you don't have to have money or gold to have style and swagger. So let me offer a few inexpensive suggestions.

The Proper Place Setting.

First, your knife should be closest to the plate on the right side with the blade facing the plate.
Second, you are missing a napkin. It should be folded properly (a lot of sites to show you this) and placed to the left side of the fork. Place your flower on the napkin. Some will put the napkin in the center of the plate but where you have food on it, well that doesn't work. Some will fold it restaurant style and put it in a goblet or drinking glass of some kind which leads me to the.....
Third point. Where are your drinking glasses? They should be placed above the knife and spoon. If you have fancy goblets use them even for orange juice and milk. If not, you can get some cheep ones at the dollar store that still look good.
Fourth, I would suggest a place mat. A burgundy or crimson red would look good. Something also with a texture or pattern would also help the appearance. One setting that I think would look good with your mirrored rose would be to get a black place mat and a square all-white plate from the dollar store with a red or white linen napkin. Another idea is to buy a mirror to place the plate on then put the mirror on top of a black or red mat or tablecloth. Black, white and red combinations are very classy and a classic combination for romance. With the strawberries and the red rose and the red in the plate you are on your way with this. Just add the black somewhere.

Food

First presentation. Hearts seem to be a favorite of yours. Let me suggest that you vary the size of the hearts and stack the heart pancakes or waffles NOT directly on top of each other but rather stacked off center like when you fan out a hand of cards. Just put the largest on the bottom. Put the the strawberries in a nice pile to the side or below the pancakes and as was suggested, whipped cream is a good look. I would suggest that you dust the pancakes and berries with a bit of powdered sugar and find a sprig of mint to add some green to the plate. Put the mint on the pile of cream. Maybe a few rose petals on the side of the plate would be a nice touch too. That would look extra sharp with a black mat. Ooooo, just had another idea. Get some cheap crystal beads from the dollar store and scatter a few on top of the black mat with the rose petals. A ton of ideas here to make the appearance better.

Next, vary the menu. Make buttermilk syrup rather than maple syrup out of a bottle. That stuff right there will make any women fall in love with you. Maybe add, as was suggested, a chocolate dipped strawberry to the plate. If she is not into that, put an orange twist (a round cross section slice of the orange cut half way through and then twisted and placed on the plate) on the plate. Does she like omelets? You can make some really colorful stuff with omlets. Asparagus is a nice touch with a classic egg, cheese, sausage, onion, and fresh red pepper omelet. My wife likes quiche. I am not a fan but that is irrelevant. I cook it for her. Try sour cream waffels. Try strawberry pancakes. Try All recipes. com

For presentation ideas a good place to start is watching the last 15 minutes of Iron Chef America on the Food Network. They make some crazy beautiful dishes.

Anyway, I need to get back to work so enough for now.

Scott Card must have stock in the dollar store:lol8: JUst re-read my post and you'd think that.... hmmm. :haha: I was just suggesting a quick and cheap solution. I actually go to the dollar store once, maybe twice a year tops. But I did see square white plates there once. I really would suggest a store like Thai Pan, Bed Bath & Beyond, or Williams & Sonoma. I saw the black, mirror, rose petal, crystal jewels idea while with my wife at Thai Pan in St. George over Spring Break. But hey, start at the dollar store for cheap wine glasses or goblets. Maybe you can get lucky with a place mat or a black table cloth. The thing about the waffels and pancakes with the oak table is that it is all the same color. Gotta break that up.

Now back to back to cutting my toe nails with a pocket knife.

Scott Card

BTW, I think it is cool that you do this for your wife. I used to cook every Sunday dinner but a change in chruch assignments makes that impossible now. I can't do breakfast for her either because I have to get up too early and I leave for meetings before she is up. I still cook other meals to give her a day or meal off. I admit, I have also picked up my share of pizza on my way home from work. On mothers day I made my wife breakfast in bed and my offering was not as fancy as suggested to you. But the omelet was really good. I also cooked dinner for my family that day. So, I try to practice what I preach.

Also, Scott, don't take any thing I said to be negative or dis-ing you in any way. I wouldn't have commented but you asked for suggestions. I also don't think what you are doing is bad or lacks style or class but you asked for some ideas for something extra special. That is what you got from me. Any bit of manners or style I may have I must give credit to my mother who was very proper and loved to entertain. If my opinions lack style or panache, it is my mother's fault. :haha:

Dude, the rose petals on black is workin'! Heart shaped eggs! Well played. Much better than before! Here is an idea in addition to the heart theme, XO. Cross two slices of bacon and have a round egg. Cut out the center of two pieces toast or pancake in an X or O shape and then you have two X's and two O's to work with.

This was this morning's weekly breakfast in bed for lovely Kimberly. We're out of town since I'm working on an out of town project, so I had to improvise with what I could find in our tiny apartment. I couldn't find any rose petals (in Kremmling) to scatter as has been the norm late, so I had to make due with any flowers I could find in the little stores around here.

Preparing this week's breakfast in bed was a little more challenging than some of the other week's ones. The "XOXO" bacon worked well, but the heart-shaped boiled eggs and heart-shaped cinnamon rolls were only partially successful. I'll have to practice more with those.
Successful eggs/cinnamon rolls are not, I sure do love my wife though.

IMHO, there are only a few things you need to know about marriage.

Finding a mate:

Finding the right person isn't as important as being the right person.

During marriage (I sure wish I had always followed these):

1. When you are wrong, admit it. When you are right, shut up.

2. Always do nice things for your spouse and make it a "special habit". (For me, I bring my wife flowers once a week and bring her breakfast in bed once a week, and she writes me love letters whenever I go out of town. Everyone has their own little things they do).

3. Always be there for each other.

4. Make lots of love, but only with your spouse. It's the only activity that you share with each other and no one else.

Strawberry french toast, hot strawberry pastry, honey ham and strawberries and of course the customary dozen roses and candlelight.

I asked lovely Kimberly if she had any request for this week's breakfast in bed. She ased for oatmeal. My first throught was "how can I make outmeal romantic for her". I hope I succeeded. I sure love wonderful Kimberly.

I attempted to roll heart shaped cinnamon rolls, but they unravel as they cook (even if you straighten them half way through cooking). One day I'll figure it out. I also made some sausage patties.

To stir things up, I brought her carnations this week, rather than the usual roses. The single rose and tulip are from our date last night.

Well, it's Sunday morning again and that means that I get to make breakfast in bed for beautiful, wonderful Kimberly. It's my favorite weekly tradition.

I spent a long time on the boiled eggs (trying a different shaping method than before), but I think it's time to go back to the drawing board. One of these days I'll figure out how to get them perfectly heart shaped.

Try poaching them in a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

I've done that quite a bit. Poached, fried, omlets and even scrambled eggs are easy to make heart-shaped, but boiled eggs are challenging.

The method in a previous post works pretty good, but the egg slowly returns to it's original shape over time, though the yolks stay heart shaped. I tried to make a mold of sorts, which kind of works, but the yolks don't turn out heart shaped. Same with plastic type molds. I'll keep working on it and get it down sometime.:2thumbs:

Bacon, green pepper and cheese omlets and lots of strawberries. I sure love my beautiful wife!

I sincerly hope so. It may be unlikely though, since she has a heart condition. You can read a little on it below:

She'll still live a long time though and I'm sure we'll still be rockin' into an old ripe age.

For the past couple of years, I was able to use my birthday as an excuse to come to work late in order to make beautiful Kimberly breakfast in bed. This year I couldn't come to work late, so I was a little sad that I couldn't make my wonderful wife breakfast in bed in the morning, so I came home in order to make her "breakfast in bed" for dinner. Since I couldn't start until I got home, it wasn't anything fancy, but she liked it.

This was the weekly breakfast in bed for beautiful, wonderful Kimberly. I made it yesterday and the kids helped decorate it (see the "mom" spelled out with hearts).

It wasn't fancy this time and the thing that was different is that the breakfast was done in a backcountry cabin. We hiked up to a backcountry cabin and had a party for her (it was her birthday), so everything had to be carried up. I forgot my tools though, so sadly, I couldn't make things heart shaped.

I sure appreciate my wife. Kimberly is the best wife ever! The kids appreciate their mom as well.

Been busy lately so I had to make beautiful Kimberly's weekly "breakfast" in bed Wednesday night. I have scouts tonight, so time was limited and I had to do it all in an hour and a half. It wasn't fancy, but she still liked it. I sure am lucky to have my wonderful Kimberly.

Here's the one from last Sunday. I didn't get out of bed until 7:45, so it was kind of a rushed job and wasn't very creative (the icing flowed when I took it into the bedroom too).

Even though it wasn't one of the better ones, she still really like it, but if I'm going to keep this up for the next 50 years (and I do plan to), I think I'll need to get more creative.

The week isn't over yet, but I thought I'd do it a few times this week. (I have a really great wife and she deserves it at least every day).

Here's the latest:

It brings up a dilemma though. In 13 days is our 21st anniversary. I'll have work hard to make that breakfast really special.

The breakfast in bed from today. Not to brag, but it was really yummy.

As of next Monday, we'll be married for 21 years! I don't think I could every give her everything she deserves, but I'm sure glad that she chose to put up with me for so long.

A bit short on time this time around, so it wasn't quite as fancy as the last one.

Yesterday's breakfast. Maybe too much red, but it is her favorite color.

This is the weekly breakfast in bed for my beautiful, lovely, sweet, wonderful Kimberly. It was simple and had a Halloween theme.

I'm sure I have asked this before, but do you have a single brother? :2thumbs:

Yes, but I think there is a reason that he's still single.

Anyway, I've never heard anyone in my family utter the words "I love you" (to anyone) and I've never even seen my parents so much as kiss or even hold hands (even though they are still married). Some in the family have failed marriages.

I'm the lone wolf when it comes to PDA or the breakfast in bed thing.

To be honest, the main reason I post stuff is to hopefully share some ideas and to hopefully remind someone of something positive. To me, it's better than only posting negative stuff on forums (even though we all post negative things at times). Of course, haters gonna hate.

Keep sharing! I hope it rubs off on lots of men!

I'm afraid that this:

doesn't look too much like breakfast to me.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but if I found that in the house, I'd assume the dog hadn't been let out in a while.
