I want to take my GoPro skiing with me next week, but I'm not sure which housing to use. The waterproof is obviously the safest bet, but I want the better sound I get from the vented housing.

Any recommendations? Anyone use the vented housing?

Sombeech is probably the guy to ask... But why do you need to hear wind rushing by? Most people just put music on the vid anyways and don't even use the sound for ski type stuff. So my vote is be safe and go full waterproof.

Yeah, I think you're right - most of it will be wind. But I watched this video (http://thegoat.backcountry.com/2011/02/15/earlyups-taking-skiing-seriously/) today, and thought the sound from the video was pretty cool.

Thanks for the tip with Sombeech. I'll PM him...

Definitely do the waterproof housing. The vented housing will give a lot of unwanted wind noise. :cool2:

er.... wait, I get mixed up. Actually the sealed housing gives wind noise if it's <100 mph. Whatever it was, it was odd, like you'd think the other way would work better.

Plus, the sound comes through just fine with the waterproof housing.
