I am going down to St. George this weekend with my family and one other family. There will be two small children (2 and 3 years old) with us. I am not really that familiar with St. George area, but was wondering if somebody could give me some advice. What good activities are there to do with small children and a fairly pregnant wife?

We will probably go to Zion one day, but we have two more days to kill. I don't want to limit the suggestions to just hiking activities either. Anything around town that would be fun to do? Thanks for the help.

Hopefully the weather will be a touch nicer than predicted........

Definitely stop by the Desert Rat and say hi to Bo!

In Snow Canyon there are two really short hikes that are pretty cool. Jenny's Canyon a small short slot canyon and Johnson's Canyon cool arch you can see on this one and it is only open until March 15th then it will be closed again until October. Cotton Wood Cove park off of South Dixie Dr is a lot of fun for small kids. http://www.sgcity.org/parks/cityparks/details.php?id=92

There is a really cool little store with good soup and bread sticks. It is an old general store type with fun old candies sodas and ice cream you can buy. It is called Judd's 62 W Tabernacle St. Pirate Island Pizza is a big one with the kids as well, I don't think the pizza is good but they have an arcade and it is themed.

Have fun!

Hit up the hot springs in Meadow on the way down or back.

Silver Reef Ghost Town (outside of Leeds)
Grafton Ghost Town (outside of Rockville)
Snow Canyon is fun.
There's a historic building stroll in downtown St. George
Red Cliffs has a fun hike for kids.
Pioneer Park is fun for kids too.

Kayenta has some nice artsy places and a cafe with delicious food. Kinda a pricey but yummy and fun to walk around and look later. They do a big art exhibit on Saturdays.

Washington Rec center that Tanya mentioned is FUN! Indoor rock climbing wall and my kids LOVE the pool.

Our trip got a little derailed last time from Mark's accident, so we didn't get too much time to check out the Red Cliffs area near Leeds, but there were a few short hikes there. I'd like to explore more of Snow Canyon when we head down there next month.

I did all of this (and then some) on a trip in March last year (http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38551), and I would second all of blueeyes' recommendations. Snow Canyon is a lot of fun, and my kids especially had fun on both the sand dunes and the petrified dunes, and in the lava tubes.
