Anybody on here have metal detectors & use them?
Just wondering if it's worthwhile or not.

What ones would you recommend?
What cool things have you found?

It seems like it could be a cool toy, I just don't know anybody that has one or regularly goes so I just don't know.

I don't have one but my father-in-law is a metal-detecting nut. He's had two or three different models. He has one that's waterprrof that he uses at the beach (not in Utah) and one that he uses at home which gives you approximate depth of the item. He's found a ton of coins, tons of garbage and a few gold/silver jewelry items. I'm sure he is yet to recoup his cost by a long shot but he really enjoys it. If you like it I'd recommend buying one (I think there is a place in Sandy that sells them). Keep in mind that it can be rough on your knees.

It looks like a fun hobby. I have been researching it and it is on the list of stuff to do. I am thinking of getting an Ace250. They run around $200 and are supposed to be pretty good for noobs. I will try out that unit then upgrade if I like it.

http://forum.treasurenet.com/ is a pretty active forum I have enjoyed checking out. The subforums with pictures of finds is especially interesting.

I picked up a used Bounty Hunter around Christmas for $50. I can't remember what model it is though. Havn't had the chance to use it yet but I'm looking forward to finding some Spanish gold!
