My family (i.e. my parents, brothers, sisters, their children, etc.) are planning a big family camping trip in July. They were trying to get some spots up at Red Fish lake in Idaho, but everything is booked. They had seen a few pictures I had taken of the Boulder mountain area on my way to Escalante and are now somewhat sold on camping somewhere around there, even though neither of us really know anything about the place.

I've personally driven through that area twice is all (did the hells backbone drive from Escalante to Boulder). I need advice on some good campgrounds for families of this size. Some of us camp, some don't care for camping, but are being good sports about it.

Any advice for this scenario? They like to fish, some like to hike, some like to ride ATV's, some like to swim, some like to lounge.

Much appreciate the advice.

Barker Reservoir has a lot of space for large groups. It is pretty remote road back in there, you are gonna need a truck or 4wd to get up there. I would not try it in a passenger car. If you go, take everything you need, you will be 15 miles from the closest service.

Here is a trip I did there last year:
