Hi all,

I searched this topic and found nothing, so here I am asking.

Can someone recommend a free camp spot between Las Vegas and Boulder City? Some friends and I are doing the Black Canyon kayak run on Friday-Saturday. We are driving down from N. Utah Thursday night, arriving in the area around 11pm. We have to meet the outfitter at 7:15am Friday in BC.

We are just looking for a free, legal, reasonably safe place to pull off and sleep for six hours. No toilets, tables, etc. necessary. Willing to drive over into AZ if that is the ticket, just need to be within 10 miles or so from BC so we don't have to get up too early. I have driven through once, but am not very familiar with the area.

If anyone can help us out, I promise to pay you back with a good Bogley trip report next week.

Thanks!

It's pretty much suburbia between Las Vegas and Boulder City. I doubt there is any free camping unless you want to sleep in a Walmart parking lot or one of the casino parking lots.

The Arizona side might be a better bet, I remember lots of open space on that side, but not sure about pull offs.

Hope you have a good trip and get a lot of pictures.

best bet is in lake mead nra. plenty of dirt side roads to primitive camping along the northshore rd. easiest to find at night would probably be callville wash, which is how one gets to anniversary narrows along the northshore road. you can pull in, park, and throw down a bag w/ plenty of room. that would put you probably 30+ minutes or so from boulder tho. or you could try the goldstrike canyon th right off the 93 - http://www.summitpost.org/goldstrike-canyon/695953. probably be uncomfortable, that is not a large or cozy spot.
