View Full Version : Gold Butte - It always pleases
Took a few rides out to the Gold Butte area outside Mesquite. There is so much out there and almost no one around. These pictures are from three trips.

Very nice, Win - looks like a neat area to explore!
PolarXJ, I found this on trails.com (http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.aspx?trailid=XFA106-016):
A 62-mile paved, gravel, and unmaintained Type II road that traverses an area of stunning desert scenery in southeastern Nevada. Gold Butte Back Country Byway traverses 62 miles of rugged desert country south of Interstate 15 and Mesquite in southeastern Nevada. The byway is paved for the first 24 miles, with another 19 miles on a well-graded gravel road to Gold Butte, a historic mining area at the southern end of the byway. Beyond there, the byway follows another 19-mile stretch that can be traveled only in a four-wheel-drive or high-clearance two-wheel-drive vehicle. The byway takes between three and six hours to drive, depending on how many stops are taken and if the unmaintained section is driven. Special Attractions: Whitney Pockets, Devil’s Throat, Joshua tree forests, excellent views, Gold Butte mining area, wildlife, hiking.

I Like it Win! Nice picture of the "Turtle"!
Thanks guys, you got it right Kev. At Whitney Pockets you can go left to the G.C. Parashant or straight onto Gold Butte.
Hey, Bo, you'd been taking a dip, I bet.:haha::haha:
