...at 4:45am it's the drug of choice since I can't stand the taste of coffee. Coke could be DC, Pepsi or Mtn Dew. At 4:45am I don't care.:eek2:

We usually ask "wanna grab a coke" or "pop" on occasion.

I call it, "Hey honey, make me a rum and cola, will ya?"

Pop, of course. Coke is Coca-cola. Soda is a carbonated water. Soft drinks include non-carbonated beverages.

At least, that's how I see it... :haha:

And Pop is a sound. :)

Exactly :haha:! And not something I drink, which is either "soda" or "coke" [brand irrelevant]. This discussion has come up on other forums I've read, and it's always really amusing to me to see how regional people are with their terminology...and how adamant people are that everyone else is incorrect :lol8:!

But, I gotta say, Kev, your reasoning behind the useage makes perfect sense .

Other interesting regional terms:

"shopping cart" vs "carriage"
"sub sandwich" vs. "grinder" vs. "hoagie"
"yard sale" vs. "tag sale"
"liquor store" vs. "package store"

Or divan, davenport, settee or chesterfield... :haha:

And agreed on all the above choices. :thumb:

strangest I've heard in Texas from an individual that called the brand Coke = Soda and all other carbinated beverages of differnet brands = coke

Pop.

When my Grandpa was alive, he always called it sody-water, as in, "go getcha a sody-water from the fridge". It was usually a Sprite or root beer. Always made us grandkids chuckle. My Grandpa was a rough-and-tumble cowboy from Kanab.

As a southerner born and raised, any carbonated beverage (except for beer) is called a soft drink. Next would be a coke - no matter what the beverage - you would just say "let's go get a coke".
