Is the time of day correct ?

Everybody's timezone is set in their profile. We had the option of setting the Mountain Timezone for everybody but we're getting quite a few members who are outside of that area now.

Go here to set it, Utah is on GMT -7 hours: (Greenwich Mean Time, Greenwich is the town in London where time is measured from and - well you get the point)

[ geek mode]
GMT technically does not exist...it's now called UTC (Universal Coordinated Time), and the military called it "Zulu".
[ /geek mode]

Greenwich is now a suburb of London, just down the road from me (and is pronounced Grennich, like the "village" suburb of New York)

New Year's quiz 1: Why is it UTC and not UCT? (Cirrus2000 need not apply! :haha:)
New Year's quiz 2: Why was "Zulu" dropped?

Happy New Year to you all!

Rob

So much for the troublemakers leaving and thinking they would be missed.

I'd be curious to know where all the users came from. Any time I see a huge spike like that on Climb-Utah it's normally because it was mentioned in a national newspaper or magazine.

Maybe the time stamp from where ever the server is located? I definitely was not on at those times, but on nonetheless.

The 24 hour stamp is for a 24 hour period. So it makes sense it could start and stop at weird hours.

FWIW - the mods can see who is online and what they are viewing in real time. Watching the board for the past few days the 24 hour numbers are in line with what is actually happening.

yeah the server times aren't quite Mountain Standard Time, hence the birthday threads always showing up the day before. But the numbers are correct. Adjusting the clock issue has been low on the priority list, one of these days we'll get it lined up though.
