Good Pics dude! Love em...

Now I am curious though. How do you deal with the cold? It's been like 45-55 degrees down here and I know that is not cold enough to snow. And probably way warmer than my Nothern brethren where you guys are prob like 10 degrees. But every time I try to go out I still cannot function because my fingers touch the cold sandstone and turn numb in about less than 1 min. Now if I'm out riding my bike, I just wear gloves and am fine. But I can't wear gloves rock climbing, my fingers must come into contact with the rocks and it's a done deal for me.

Am I just a pansy cause I live in a hotter area and anything below 50 I have to have gloves on? Or am I missing something?

Climb in the sun. Makes a huge difference. We climbed at the junk show that's always the Chuckawalla on turkey day, when the temp's were in the 30's. Then, finished up at Black Rock. Fine in the sun. Really cold in the shade.

Last weekend, by Mesquite, kinda coolish in the shade but plenty doable and, by the end of the weekend, it was fine. Had to be 50's, though (68 in Mesquite).

Folks put shake and warms in their chalk bags. Wear a down jacket when belaying. And, expect cold hands when climbing in the shade.

I think folks in the VRG like it cold, eh? Place looked packed last weekend.

Ahh good advice then. Thanks. I bet the black lava rocks absorb a bit more heat too, makes sense. :2thumbs:

Hey! The first 3 pictures are on a Darl Biniaz route named "The Richness of it All" and the last 2 pictures are on a route friends and I put up in the mid 90's called Aftershock.
Sweet routes for sure! Did you do all 4 pitches of both routes?
