What are your 2011 running goals? What trails do you want to run, races, distances, mileage? If luck has it we might give each other some great ideas or share some of the same ideas. Put them out there.

I figured I ought to get things started since I started the thread.

- Not doing the Red Hot 50k (http://www.grassrootsevents.net/node/2), now called the Red Hot 55k and moved a week later in the month. February 19th is too early in the season for me and last year was covered in snow with a breakable crust for the first third of the race followed by mud / ice on slick rock for a lot of the remainder of the race. By mile 17 I was injured from punching through the snow and having to pull up with greater force than normal trail running. Walked the remaining distance. If I am going to suffer that bad I'd rather be doing some sort of alpine snow climb.

- Imogen Pass Race (http://www.imogenerun.com/) if I get in. Race registration is June 1st 2010. This is a nice 17 mile race from Ouray, CO to Telluride CO via Imogen Pass which is at 13,120 feet. Should be a real lung burner. Mark your calendars for Saturday September 11th 2011.

- Run Wheeler Peak (http://www.summitpost.org/wheeler-peak/150191) located in the Great Basin National Park, Nevada. The plan would be to camp at Upper Lehman Creek Campground and then run the Lehman Creek trail to Wheeler Peak Campground and from there follow the standard route (http://www.summitpost.org/standard-route/155412) to the summit of 13,063 ft. It's an out and back, probably 17-19 miles. I can make it shorter by running from Wheeler Peak Campground but I'll make that call when I get there.

- Run Bullion Divide (http://www.summitpost.org/bullion-divide/163924) located in the mighty Wasatch, my own back yard. 10.77 miles plus a bit more if you run back to the car. A nice one day run when I have to stay around town for the weekend. While I am at it I also need to get a lap or two in on the South Ridge of Mount Superior. Another Wasatch run I want to do is South Ridge > Superior > Monte Cristo > Sundial and out Mill B or, skip the Sundial and head over the Ridge to Twin Peaks and then out Broads Fork.

- Wasatch Steeplechase (http://www.wahsatchsteeplechase.com/Wahsatch_Steeplechase/The_Race.html). Ran it last year and it's one of the best local races going. I'm going to put in a little more steep uphill and downhill practice this year. I also have the secret downhill weapon, the euro clown shoes.

- Run the Enchantments Loop (http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7969748&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) in Washington State. Just a matter of coordinating. It's one of those runs where if you get the word that the Fall color is on you pack the car and drive there. Mount St. Helen is also on the list. 16 mile run to the top and back or the 22 mile circumnavigation of the mountain.

I'm sure everyone will have some amazing ideas and my list will grow. Zion and Red Rocks have a lot of runs but I just don't know my way around that well.

Who is next?

Running-Walking-Crawling-Maybes?
Trans Zion sub 12 Hr.
GC- R2R2R

These both being contingent on how many BuzeCruzes I partake of this spring and or if my apendages remaining semi-intact.

Actually, this year I'm not being as extreme as last year and as many of you are. I decided that I dont want to put as many looonng hours into running so that I can ride my bike more and do other things. However, after making that decision I'm really wanting to do Mid Mountain Marathon again - I just LOVE that race. I think I might do Steeplechase again. What I really want to do is get the Salt Lake Half Marathon under 2 hours. Last time I ran it I finished in 2 hours and THREE SECONDS. SOO close!! Doing all the long trail running has made me slower so I want to work on some speed this year. I would REALLY like to do some long trail runs just for fun but I need a running partner - I know NO ONE to run trails with... and I'm chicken to go up high by myself. Anyway... I'll do SLC Half, the Capital Half, and Steeplechase for now.

another run I've wanted to do is the full desolation trail starting thaynes canyon in Mill Creak (south boxelder picnic but not the thaynes trail, desolation trail to salt lake overlook) all the way to Desolation Lake.

The Trans Zion, R2R2R, those are long. They are on my secret punchlist. I want to do them and am also a bit gun shy of injury. Around the 20-24 range and I have to be careful not to wreck myself. Regardless, I'll be heading to Zion this winter/spring for a running weekend, probably parts of the Trans Zion. Consider it a practice run. For the Grand Canyon, I'll do a one way with a key exchange as the practice run.

Quality time with with the foam roller, custom insoles, the stretchy rubber band and yoga keep me running. The beautiful thing about running, there is always another challenge whenever you are ready.

Here is my list:

- Red Hot 50k, I have biked most of the course and love Moab. I am very excited for the scenery and the desert running. This will also be my first Ultra
- Squaw Peak 50, I have entered but have not found out yet if I am in. I live in Utah County and this will be a nice close race.
- Timp Trail Marathon, I have run lots of the course and it looks fun, plus it is close.
- Wasatch Steeplechase (http://www.wahsatchsteeplechase.com/Wahsatch_Steeplechase/The_Race.html), this was my first trail run and it was awesome, loved seeing the rattle snake and the rock climbing sections.
- Wasatch Back, family member has made it in and invited me to run, I have never run a relay race before. It sounds like fun.
- GC R2R2R, did the rim to rim this autumn and it was amazing, but this probably won’t happen, nobody to run with.

That the list so far. Some of these races are close together so I probably won’t do them all. This year will be my first ultra. I have toyed around with the ideas of running the Bear 100, but I want to wait until after Squaw Peak to see if I have what it takes.

Imogene Pass - assuming I'm in the level of fitness required to finish it.

GC R2R2R, maybe. We'd discussed maybe trying to organize for a few of us to maybe do this in the fall. I've done it a few times, and it's my all-time favorite epic trail run.

What comprises the "Trans Zion" run? That sounds awesome, just like the trans-Bryce run Trackrunner mentioned in a different thread.

Bo's bogley trip report (http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?25508-3rd.-Annual-quot-FFF-quot-50-Miler%21)
joe's trans zion (http://www.citrusmilo.com/zionguide/transziontrek.cfm)

I've also heard of a trans Canyonlands National Park run. Maybe it wasn't a true trans Canyonland from needles to island in the sky. I think it was just island in the sky and over 100 miles on the white rim trail in one day.

Pretty new runner. Thinking Thanksgiving Point Half Marathon, then Little Grand Canyon Marathon in the fall.
