Yikes!! They just cut into the football game to go to a live report. A guy says the pilot was laying on the ground bruised, burned and battered with his plane in a million pieces. I hope nobody was in those houses... :eek2:

The fog must have been a big factor. I can't see a thing at my place.

My grandparents live near there, they say all of the power is out. This is near the North Park Elementary school over there, I'm wondering how many people got hurt.

ROY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A plane has crashed into two homes in Roy. Fire crews on scene say the pilot survived.

Several people have been taken to the hospital and three houses are on fire in a residential area of Roy at 2000 West 4300 South.

The crash site is just west of the Ogden-Hinckley Airport.

1,700 customers are without power right now, mostly in the area immediately around the crash site.

The National Weather Service (http://www.abc4.com/content/news/slc/story/UPDATE-Plane-crashes-into-residential-area-in-Roy/LcqhgTnvO0-jJ-mxWUQbVA.cspx#) issued a heavy fog warning that is currently in effect for the northern Wasatch Front. The NWS said visibility was down to a quarter of a mile in many areas.

It is unknown at this time if the heavy fog was a factor in the accident.

UPDATE: This is not the first time a plane crashed in this neighborhood. In August of 2005 a plane crashed into a house at 2150 West 4400 South. The pilot and co-pilot were able to walk away from that crash with minor injuries and no one on the ground was hurt.

The 2005 crash site was just two blocks away from the Sunday night's accident.

Witnesses have called KSL to report a possible third house on fire. Gary Cox helped pull the pilot from the plane. He says the pilot was confused and badly burned but was able to answer questions.
"Pretty banged up, burnt on his hands and face, but he was actually coherent and remembered what his name was and what he was doing," Cox said.
The pilot was able to confirm he was the only person in the plane at the time of the crash. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
Cox says there was "nothing left" of the plane, but that parts were scattered across the road.
The crash site is just southwest of the Ogden-Hinckley Airport. Fire crews are evacuating residents to an LDS Church meetinghouse at 4200 S. 2175 West.
Residents are reporting widespread power outages in the neighborhood.
It's unclear at this time if there are any fatalities.
