I am in the market for a new wetsuit. I currently use a full-length 3mil that is wearing out. I'm looking at going a little thicker. Would anyone like to recommend a great wetsuit for cold canyon water?

Price is somewhat of an issue, but I don't mind paying for quality. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheaper is better right? I just got a 5 mm Neotech wetsuit for $120, and sure enough after two canyons, it needs patching. I am pretty sure that paying more would not have prevented the hole. To paraphrase Tom Jones, one needs a "remuda" of wetsuits. I am definitely interested to hear what others think about this one.

The Hyperflex 4/3 is great! For the really cold stuff I add a hooded vest. Both can be found here:

Just so you know, I wore a 4/3 and the vest in the Black Hole last New Years Day at Freeze Fest. Worked like a charm so long as I kept moving. I have worn the 4/3 in the summer as well. Very stretchy!

+1 I love my Hyperflex 4/3. I haven't done Freeze Fest in it yet, but I will this year. I plan to wear it, and get one of Tom's vests as well - Glad to know that it worked for you, Scott. :2thumbs:

Bo and I have a wet/dry suit that we love. Its heavy to carry though. To carry I like my drysuit!

Top one is Keyhole and the other the Subway. Very familiar. ;)

Since canyoneering will put a lot of wear on whatever wetsuit you decide to get, I tend to think cheaper is better. Putting some aquaseal on the stiching areas has helped mine last longer than I think it otherwise would have.

If you wear knee and elbow pads and shorts and shirt over the top of your wetsuit everytime it really saves it from a lot of abuse. Might not be as sexy, but sure extends the life of the suit.

I've been pleased with some of the deals on http://www.sierratradingpost.com/d/382_Mens-Wetsuits.html but then I may not be as hard on wetsuits as some folks out there.
