FWIW: That play is known as "Wrong Ball" and has been deemed illegal. Search Youtube and you will find a couple dozen clips of the play. Or search the web for several dozen heated arguments on why it is/is not legal....

The NFHS (the group that actually writes the rules) has reviewed this play and determined it to be illegal. Unfortunately some refs have incorrectly allowed this play to be used.

Alright.... I'll make it up to you by adding one of my favorite trick plays. It's called "Muddle Huddle" and is legal.... my teams usually run this play a couple times a year with good results. Muddle Huddle is easy to install and run... and even better.... the more ragged the play looks when run the better the results. From a coaching standpoint that is one of the big problems with trick plays. They take a lot of time and practice to install and they usually only work once.
