Anyone familiar with this? The Canon Hacker's Development Kit (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page). Adds tons and tons and tons of tweaks to Canon point and shoots.

I have an old Canon S2IS, which is a decent little camera. The CHDK lets me take RAW files with it, and extends and tweaks a bunch of other settings.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any particular favourite settings or scripts for this. Any particularly good, useful tweaks?

I had an S3IS and used CHDK quite a bit. Long story short it does some pretty cool stuff, but not as cool as an entry level SLR :)

CHDK is fun. I actually helped port it to the SD870, but I haven't done much with it since.

Timelapse with CHDK cameras is a good use, as is taking pics with ridiculously short shutter speeds - since the CCD sensors use an electronic shutter you can do things with the them that would be difficult (using the built-in flash to get an effective shutter speed of around 1/60000 second) or damaging (time lapses with an electronic shutter don't wear out the shutter mechanism like time lapses on a DSLR)

What I didn't like about chdk is that the raws it spits out don't have any exif so you then have to shoot raw + jpeg and merge the two, and my SD card was slow so it took forever to write the raw files to the card.
