Well I'm looking for a place (in Utah) for a camping trip for my wife and I, our kids, and our grandkids. We will most likely be going in the July/August time frame, so I don't want a blazing hot desert camp! What we need is a place with shade, maybe a lake but definitely some water, pleasant restrooms for the non-camping types among us, probably some hiking and fishing, and lastly but not leastly, a little bit less crowded than the campgrounds around Salt Lake.
If you have any suggestions that meet the criteria above, I'd welcome them.

That's just what I'm going to do.
Actually, the Uintas are cool...I go there a lot, but places like Trial Lake, Mirror, Washington, are all full in the summer. For good reason, the scenery is great and there's a lot of things to do. We went to Moon Lake on the south slope about 4 years ago. That was nice and we had a lot of fun too.
I think if I wanted to try getting away from people I'd go up by that Reservoir...the name escapes me right now, but it's up near Gold Hill and right near the East Fork of the Bear River, but on the opposite side of the road. I think the reservoir name begins with a W. Anyway, I haven't ever camped there, but it looks like it may not be a crowded place.
I highly doubt you are going to find an empty campground with a flushing toilet anywhere in Utah.

Good point, Summit. Relatively empty would do. I didn't say anything about "flush toilets" though, only pleasant restrooms--some of the pit ones are pretty bad, and some they do a good job of keeping clean and stocked. Oh and I was thinking of Whitney Reservoir. Do you know anything about that area?
