Man, 63, was hurt in Olympia National Park and died hours later at hospital

PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Rangers in Washington state suspect an encounter with a mountain goat killed a 63-year-old hiker in Olympic National Park.
The park service says Robert H. Boardman, of Port Angeles, was hurt Saturday as he hiked near the park's Klahhane Ridge and died hours later at a Port Angeles hospital.
Officials did not provide any specifics on his injuries but said an early investigation indicates they were the result of an encounter with a goat.
Rangers tracked down and killed the animal, which will be analyzed by a veterinary pathologist.

I have been up close on Cardiac and Cardiff Ridge to the males. They can be pretty mean. Ran into one on the way to the summit of Baldy from Germania Pass up Little Cottonwood. This picture is of that day. The male never took his eyes off us, and the females were heading over the other side The male was head down, digging the hoof like he was gonna charge us. They are built like tank, I am sure they could jack you up. That is sad to hear.

Hmm. Interesting. Last week was at Mt. Rushmore and the goats were munching down the landscaping. You could get within a yard of them without even trying. Pretty cool really. Then somebody came by with a dog and the goats went nuts. One of the kids wiped out on the granite and momma goat went crazy.

Why do people have to bring dogs where they're not supposed to go?
