We hiked the West Fork of Misery a couple of weeks ago and then explored the East Fork last weekend.

We were the first through Misery's bottom half-mile since the rains. What were full swims two weeks ago are now only waste deep wades (nothing higher than the belly button on a 6'1" guy) and lots of (quick)sand.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending how you look at it), we released a lot of the water being held in the sand.

The first picture is on Sep 24th, and the second one Oct 9th.

Nice comparison pics. :2thumbs:

The swim through the double arch cathedrel room is one of the coolest spots on the planet. I hope the mud washes out and the warm clear water returns.

I agree about the double arch cathedral room. That is a spectacular section. I bet the fall/winter rains will bring it back.

Here's another challenge to contend with now when hiking Paranuweap upstream from Misery. The rains changed the channel at the rockfalls. We choose to climb, shimmy and squeeze through the crack in the rocks on the South side.
