Hoping to get up WAY early tomorrow. Would love to hit up the Uintas and bring a load of Brookies home for a Sunday Feast. My 9 year old will be in tow... My buddy may only be up for Silver Lake Flat though. Stay tuned.
I am thinking of just hitting the lakes off the highway and bouncing around. Reports are that its great fishing up there now.

2010102CliffTrialLakeWe ended up going back up to Cliff lake where we backpacked a few weeks ago. Left the house @ 5:15. On the water @ 7:20 ish. The action was very SLOW.
We moved around a bit and went up and over the cliffs but could get nothing. I ended up getting 3 nice fish 2 brooke & a nice long Cut. The cut wad 15" and had a HUGE head and mouth. My son and my buddy got a brooke and a cut. We decided to head out @ 11:00 and hit Trial lake on the way out. We parked below the dam and hiked up over the dam to find trial pond. I dont think it was as big as Cliff anymore. It was LOW...... There were a ton of small trout by the outflow box that could not be talked into taking anything. I took off to the far side of the lake and was immediately rewarded with several nice Rainbows and a HUGE albino that got away. Shortly after the other 3 in the group made their way over to me. My friends son thought it would be fun to walk through the mud, YEP it sure was fun sinking up to his knees and loosing a boot to the mud!!!!! If I could have quit laughing I would have gotten a picture. It was great to have it NOT be my kid stuck in the mud and bootless!!!!! Well after about noon the fish just started to go nuts. We started just throwing back lots of nice 12" because we were getting near the limit. We ended up with 4 Brooke, 11 Rainbow, 5 Cuts. I am pretty sure that is a legal haul as I think we could have had 16 cuts and 16 Brookies. HOPE so......
Also apparently you should not drive your SUV down by the lake. There was a SUV on the other side of the lake that went to leave in the afternoon and had sunk after sitting all morning. They were WAY stuck. About that time some nice forest service people showed up and proceeded to issue a ticket. Could not here the details but it was something to do with "If you aint handicaped you cant drive down here" The forest service duded made a LAME attempt to pull them out after issuing a ticket and failed to get them to budge. After the forest duded left a Dodge Quad cab came and made short work of getting them out.
I caught 75% of the fish on a gold jakes. I also got a couple nice Rainbows on a large Blue Fox that was on sale for $2.00 @ Cal Ranch. Tha kast masters were worthless!!!!!
Towards 2:00 or so we were all catching fish at the same time.
I would guess it was a 60 fish day and we ended up with a nice amount of fish for dinner tomorrow and still a little left over after that.
It was 41 degrees when we got there & 71 degrees when we left. PERFECT if not a little warm.
And yippie for an imbed that worked from Picasa

Oh and for the weird part of the story. And by weird I mean weird.
As we were making our way around Cliff Lake my buddy say a naked guy running through the trees. He though it was strange and then just figured it might have been a guy running back to camp after washing up in the morning and was not expecting us to be were we were. Well the naked dude showed up about 4 other times just kind of at the edge of the trees and just kind of hanging around. I never saw him and he assumed I saw him. At one point we were fishing and he said "Put some @#$% clothes on" I had no idea what he was talking about as I was pretty involved in trying to catch fish. My boy and his boy kept wanting to go around the cliffs or to another spot and I kept telling my boy NO you are not going anywhere I cant see you!!!!! So my friend thought I knew about the naked dude and did not want my boy being out of site for that reason, well yes that reason and a million others. I just had no idea "Because there is a naked guy running around" would actually be one of the reasons. Any ways my friend was packing heat and was pretty sure naked dude wasn't going to be bothering us. I had no idea of naked guy or that he was packing until today. I asked my boy about it and he said he saw him 2 times. How creepy is that. I almost wished he had done something stupid and my friend would have taken care of things as it really creeps me out the more I think about it.
Any ways, anyone else heard of naked dude around cliff lake????
PS its really creepy as we spent the night there just a few weeks ago with my 2 boys.
Nice adventure! Minus the naked guy, it sounds like a good trip.
Your harvest sounds legal to me.

Wow. Naked guy... that would really scare me if I was backpacking solo. Nice report. I was just over the hill at Duck on Saturday!

Yep, the more I think about naked guy the more it really bothers me. My friend said he was showing up enough it was more than just catching a guy running back to camp after an early moring lake bath. Really creeping me out. Last thing I want to think about is some pervert up there where I would assume my boys were safe from that type of creep......
