When the water and the leaves start drying up and you begin to worry about spiders in your paddling booties, the Ogden Mountain-2-Metro Games cranks open the spigot for one last dousing.
Format
Paddlers in heats of five will race head-to-head down the Ogden narrows. The top two in each heat will move on to the next round. With 40 paddlers that makes three or four rounds before we determine the overall winners. You will track your status via a large white-board at the finish line. Register on Friday from 12:00 – 6:00 at the Mountain Expo in downtown Ogden, check out the free High Adventure Mountain Film Festival Friday evening from 8:00 – 10:00pm. Camp out at the Big-D sports park (bring your family) and wake up to the sound of the water being released! Registration
Registration begins Friday, September 25th at the Mountain Expo downtown Ogden. Please locate the GOAL foundation booth from 12 to 6pm. The registration cost is $20. Each registrant gets a shirt and a mini-pack. Eat dinner downtown then come on over to the park. If you can't make it the night before then there will be a short morning registration at the finish line from 9am - 10am. The race starts at 10:30 am. There will be one safety boater accompanying each heat. Please let me know if you'd rather be a safety boater than a racer. There will be standard (shore based) safety set at key rapids. Please let me know if you would like to help set safety. Water

Race Hype
Introducing the third Ogden downriver race hosted by the Ogden City Utah Mountain 2 Metro Games (http://mountain2metro.com/). The whitewater race will begin halfway down the narrow Ogden Canyon (http://eddyflower.com/RunDetail.aspx?RunId=306) and proceed through the rapids 'The Demon', 'Poison Ivy', and 'The Waterfall' before surging past the scenic waterfall and into Ogden through the mouth of the canyon near Rainbow Gardens. Spectators will enjoy the beautiful surroundings and cheer on the participants as they race past in the treacherous whitewater. See video from past races in 2006 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkQPI24FMw8), or 2009 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0qGXxRP_9U).
Mountain 2 Metro
Due to become one of the western states' premier mountain games events, the Ogden Mountain 2 Metro games will host a variety of other sporting events from trail running to road biking. Designed to showcase the city's proximity to world class mountain recreation opportunities, the games attract a large number of event participants from all over the western U.S. As other rivers in the nation are drying up this fall, the Ogden River will be raging for the duration of the event because of a recreational release of water from nearby Pineview Resevoir. Water hungry paddlers from all over the state, as well as paddlers from Colorado and Idaho, will make their way to Ogden to compete and enjoy the flow.
Notice to all Competitors
Mountain 2 Metro Ogden Downriver Race is for Class IV proficient kayakers only. The race is run over a course approximately two miles in length, with several Class IV rapids.
