This was from last year, but I still remember it fondly! Lots of photos might look the same as other trips, but we did the shuttle differently and experienced waterfalls (from a rainstorm). It was April 30-May 3, 2009. I'd like to do Stillwater to the Confluence next year as a graduation trip.
[photos out of order for each day, cannot figure out how to get them sequential!]
Day 1 -
7AM we had camped out in the desert the night before, but woke up to be at Green River State Park to drop off our canoe and all the gear.
9AM drove ourselves to Mineral Bottom to park the car. Here we met a small plane from Red Tail Aviation http://www.redtailaviation.com/river-shuttles.php who picked us up on a very rugged, weedy airstrip in Mineral Bottoms. It was only $66 per person and my dog was free! (A friend later complained that his 3 year old cost $66 when my dog weighed more - hehe.) It was her first ride in an airplane. Only a 20 minute flight back to Green River Airport. The pilots truly loved their job and it was fun to see where we'd be floating for the next 4 days.
9:30AM called Tumbleweed Tours to drive us the 5 miles back to our canoe which was waiting for us at the park.
Yes we paddled about 30 miles the first day and camped at Trin Alcove/Three Canyons. It was worth it to be able to take that flight and also no worries about trying to time the trip just right in order to get picked up by a shuttle company at the end.

Day 2 - hiked up Three Canyons and explored the area, shorter paddle day, camped at a "bottom" across from Keg Springs. Lots of pioneer carvings, nice tent area, great views.

Day 3 - visited Register Rock, got hit by a huge rain storm that was pretty scary. However, we got to witness this amazing display of waterfalls afterwards which seemed like a once in a lifetime experience.

Camped near Horseshoe Bend but spots were getting taken up so we had a tiny little mud delta to call our own.

Day 4 - visted the Julien inscription, found some petroglyphs nearby that were cool (not the Great Panel 16 miles up canyon).

May 3, 1836 - May 3, 2009 - the geek in me was pretty giddy about arriving on the same day, just 173 years apart.
All in all, it was such a great trip. I was surprised at how thick the tamarisk was. You could not pull over to find a spot just anywhere, so we had to use spots that were established with the help of our friends maps they pre-labeled. We had 10 gal of water with 2 people, one dog for 3 nights and 4 days.
