My 3 year old boy tried his luck at surfing with me today as I took the family to meet up with Mark at Pineview Dam. It was also my wife's first time on the board so now she knows how fun it is.

Nice vids Justin. I am looking for a safer video camera to take out on the water and wondering what you are using to shoot these. The quality looks pretty good. I have been considering a GoPro, but don't know much about them. Currently I have a Cannon Digital Video Camera that uses the digital tapes. I would also like to get something that I can mount to a helmet for the canyons.

Thanks Jared. I'm still using my Pentax W30 Optio waterproof point and shoot camera to film these. It's a few years old and getting out dated, but it still cranks out some videos. I still use it for my helmetcam on the trails too, and it's the same camera that's shooting the still shots.

GoPro is an excellent choice especially for canyoneering because of the wide angle. The problem with the wide angle is it gets harder to see more distant objects because everything closer is squeezed into the frame. But the wide angle HD is very nice if it's in the right perspective, and they're waterproof as well.

It seems to do a great job. I have a water proof SCUBA camera (Sea Life Ecoshot) that is waterproof. It does video, but doesn't seem to do too good a quality and doesn't have sound like yours.

I really enjoy all the video's you put together. Thanks.

Hopefully if my sister gets me a disk soon with shots from Lake Powell last weekend I am going to try and put something short together. She got a sweet vid of me wiping out on the skis.

Wow, what a brave kid! What did he think? Would he do it again?

He's been asking me ever since when we can go do it again, he loved it. We actually surfed 3 times, I just chopped the video down quite a bit.

What kind of mount do you use?

It's a Bogen Manfrotto something.... I don't have many photos of it except when I mounted it to my rifle on the rabbit hunt:

I love the shot where he's jumping off the boat. Mom's looking a little... concerned? :haha:

Do you just mount it to the Wake Tower? Trying to learn how to get the steadiest shot instead of my 9 year old holding the camera while my wife drives.

Yeah, right on the tower, or on the board holders. I've determined that anytime somebody else is holding my camera, the footage sucks. :lol8:
