McMaster trail is a lonesome double track or single track route that allows biking, horseback riding and pedestrians (no vehicles). I saw no one while biking through unbroken grasslands and White Bark Pine forests (yes, there were some beetle damaged trees). Find Eagle Bay road in East Helena, Montana and bike down to McMaster trailhead. A single track to the left loops around 4-5 miles back to McMaster trail or take the fast double track to a fence for a faster point-to-point route. Either way, you'll enjoy the views, wilderness solitude, and Montana's big sky.
