Hi everyone,

Can't believe it took me so long to join this forum. I had run accross it many time in planning my vacation to Utah for this August.

This will be my 4th trip to Zion and 3rd to Bryce and the surrounding area. I'll be doing a non-stop drive straight through to Escalante so we can maximize our time hiking.

We plan on staying 2-1/2 to 3 days in Escalante then heading to Bryce for a day and a half then on to Zion for a full week. After that the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and whatever else we can squeeze in on hte way home!

Here's are definite hikes so far. Please feel free to recommend any must see areas

For Escalante we're planning the following:

Peek-A-Boo and Spooky Slots
Willis Creek
Calf Creek falls

Bryce Canyon:

I've done most of the full day hikes in Bryce but the group has never been there so probably the Navaho Loop at least.

Zion:

Angels Landing
Orderville Canyon
The Subway (top down)
Mystery Canyon

These are what we definately are doing but are looking for suggestions for the rest of our group (many afraid of heights). May take the group the back way to Observation point so they don't have to brave the cliff side trail.

Other:

Kanarra Creek

You asked for suggestions and so were you thinking technical or non-technical for your group?

A classic I enjoy in my down time in Zion after the canyons is exploring Emerald Pools and its many alcoves.

A short fun easy canyon would be Keyhole. Those permits are easy to get. Oh, and Pinecreek is a great choice too.

Part of my group will only be there for 4 days and those that are afraid of heights are on their own for the two days we're doing the Subway and Orderville. The rest of the trip is just myself and 4 other friends. We're camping the whole trip and our itinerary is wide open other than what I've listed.

Emerald Pools is a great place but I have yet to see it when there's much water (mostly a trickle). I'm sure we'll hit that as well.

I'd like to do Keyhole but it will depend on permits and what the rest of the group wants to do.

I plan to keep a journal and am stocking up on memory cards for my camera so a trip report will definitely follow.

Welcome to Bogley! You've come to the right place. I am sure you have already posted questions in the hiking or canyoneering sections of the forum. That is where you'll get the most traction and advice. Please post trip reports and photos upon your return. :2thumbs:
