I know this question has been asked and answered before, so bear with me. Can you use a Garmin 465T for Geocaching? What about a older GPS III? I'd like to try it with my Son but don't have the extra $ to burn on a unit. T.I.A.

You can geocache with any GPS as far as i know... but let me check to be sure.

EDIT: i'm pretty sure where you can add the "location", you can add LAT/LONG (gps coordinates) i'm not into geocaching much but i've entered rock art coordinates in my navigational system and it worked with no problems...
hope that helps

As long as you can get the screen to show you real time of the coordinates you can geocache with any gps unit. Of course some are easier than others. A plus is being able to put he coordinates that you're looking for and have the unit zero you to it. Another big plus is having a unit that you can hook up to a computer so you can dump a bunch of coordinates in to it in mass. Good luck to you.

The GPS III allows you to enter waypoints, as per the manual (page 42), and go to them (page 15). Thus it should work ok for geocaching.
